The Northern Span is a location and one of 24 save shrines in Shadow of the Colossus.

Description

It is a very large desert area underneath the gigantic bridge that spans the Ancient Lands. The 11th colossus' lair is found one quadrant north of here in a deep canyon.

As expected with a desert, any trees present bear no fruit, and two geckos can only be found at and surrounding the prayer shrine.

Location

Located in the northern part of the Ancient Lands in quadrant F2. Its shrine can be found in the center part of the region.

Significant nearby areas

• The Dried Marsh can be found northwest of the save shrine.
• The 11th colossus' arena can be found up north.
• The Desert Fortress and the 15th colossus' lair can be found northeast.
• The Misty Falls and the 12th colossus' lake can be found to the east.
• The 2nd colossus' beach can be found down south.
• The Half-moon Canyon can be found southeast of the save shrine.
• The Ravine Entrance and Round Stone Hill can both be found southwest.

Trivia

• An ambient texture for F2 found in earlier versions of the game shows that this area received some changes during the last phases of the game; particularly the rock mounds found throughout.
  • In the E3 Demo, the horse's path data also goes through one of the rocks, indicating that the place changed recently.
